MASCOT

The mascot of the II Mediterranean Beach Games Patras 2019

Patreas is the mascot of the Patras II Mediterranean Beach Games 2019. Its creator is Canella Stasinopoulou, a graduate of the School of Fine Arts and an Arts teacher at the Arsakeia School of Patras.

The selection of “Patreas” was made through an open competition, that was held by the Organizing Committee of the II Mediterranean Beach Games Patras 2019, which invited any interested natural and legal person (artists, graphic designers, architects, etc.) to express their interest.

The participants were asked to create a mascot drawing inspiration from an animal that lived both in land and sea as the purpose of the Organizing Committee was to create a mascot that will highlight a common feature between the 26 Mediterranean countries. The evaluation of the submitted projects and the final selection of the mascot was made by a three-member jury.

The mascot of the II Mediterranean Beach Games Patras 2019 is a seagull (“Patreas”) and was selected due to the fact that it is the largest coastal bird a visitor will encounter when roaming along the coastal zone of Patras, in parts of which (South Park, Plaz of Agias) the Games will be hosted.

The drawing that was submitted by artist Canella Stasinopoulou was the blueprint for the final version of the mascot model in its current form.

The exclusive use (Copyright) and exploitation of the mascot belongs to the Organizing Committee of the II Mediterranean Beach Games Patras 2019.
